library lingo

Our "Library Lingo" word for August was renew - to check out the same book for an additional week. We will continue to work on what renewing means, but we have a new word for September....

Check-in

It seems like a very simple word, simple definition, but some of us get mixed up between check-in and check-out. Check-in is when we return a book to the library that we have had checked out. So, think of it this way...when a book comes IN to the library you are checking it IN. When you go out of the library be sure your books are checked OUT. Does that help? I hope so. If we think of the library as a "hotel" for books...we check them in for a vacation on the shelves, then we check them out to go home. Maybe that will help as well.

Hope your first few weeks of school are going great, and you are learning many new and wonderful things! Keep reading!
